What is Open Hiring?

No CV, No Problem

Everyone deserves a fair chance at a job; that’s what Open Hiring is all about. It is not about whether someone has a diploma, smooth chat or baking experience, but whether someone wants to, and can work. There is no application process, and no interview; this helps to avoid prejudice and gives job seekers agency; they must decide for themselves whether they are suitable for a job. It speeds up recruitment and levels the playing field.

The 3 Principles of Open Hiring

No (pre)judgments

With Open Hiring, there is no prejudice or (pre)judgment. People who are often consciously, or unconsciously excluded have a chance, making the labour market fairer and more inclusive.

Trust

By trusting job seekers to make good judgements about whether they are suitable for a job they already feel empowered and respected by the organisation hiring them.

Joint Growth

Everyone has good and bad sides and moments. By accepting each other completely, and helping each other, a team becomes stronger and better able to learn from each other.

The 8 Promises of Open Hiring

Open Hiring has 8 ‘game promises’ to ensure fairness and inclusion for organisations and potential employees.

Open Door Policy

Anyone can apply for a job through this website. Regardless of their background or experience. The will to work is the priority. Employers open their door to everyone and job seekers decide for themselves whether they are suitable for the job.

No questions asked

Open Hiring offers jobs without a job interview. There is no point at which any job seeker will be asked questions about their background or employment history. What matters is a current willingness to work and to contribute.

Open arms

The entire company receives every new employee with open arms. The whole team reserves judgement to give their new colleague a fair chance. Companies employing this recruitment strategy are expected to properly inform all their employees about Open Hiring and demonstrate the benefits of giving equal opportunities, so everyone can feel proud of working for such a company.

First come, first serve

Open Hiring offers jobs on a first come, first serve basis; employers contact the person who registers first, first, to offer them the job. It is a transparent process and job seekers can see exactly where they are on the waiting list. Only when someone rejects the job, does not respond to an invitation, or another position becomes available, does an employer approach the next person on the list.

A “normal” contract

Job seekers hired through Open Hiring are given a standard contract; as per other employees at the company. Employees also get paid from day one. The goal is ultimately to be able to offer a permanent contract in case of good performance; just like any other employee.

Equal treatment

All employees within the company receive equal treatment; whether you enter through Open Hiring or another way. That means that employees all get the same opportunity to prove themselves, but also all have to adhere to the same rules and agreements. Does an employee not meet the requirements during employment, or does the job not quite fit? Then you as an employer can also say goodbye to someone on the understanding that this position is not a good fit for them.

Consideration for all

The focus is on work, but a mutual understanding for personal circumstances that may affect performance is expected. Everyone encounters challenges from time to time. In these moments the expectation is to support each other and explore solutions together.

Growth outlook

Development of employees is important in Open Hiring. Both on a personal level and within the field. It is expected that employers will offer employees the support they need as well as opportunities to move on to other positions, within the company or beyond.
